meet our newest church partner

Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City has recently partnered with us to provide services to Crutcho ISD.   The Meadowood site will begin operating in Fall 2010, but the site coordinators are already jumping in with both feet!  They volunteered at our annual Spring Fling event on May 15, 2010 and are still recruiting new tutors for the fall.  Give Whiz Kids a call at 405.602.2815 if you'd like to know how to help!

"Whiz Kids is one of those programs that will help save the next generation. Kids who have few positives in their lives are being given hope for success as adults and positive role models to pattern themselves after.  It is the best program of its kind I have seen."

-Lee Roland, Principal, Tulakes Elementary

You can make a difference in the life of an at-risk child. By devoting two hours a week, you can help a child learn to read, and so much more.  A positive mentoring relationship with a caring adult can help a child have a better attitude towards school, learn to respect self and others, and believe in his or her ability to reach for big dreams. For more information about the Whiz Kids Program or information on becoming a tutor, please contact Masie Bross at masie@whizkidsok.org, or by phone at (405) 602-2815.

A 2002 Child Trend Study,  Mentoring: A Promising Strategy for Youth Development states, "Overall, youth participating in mentoring relationships experience positive academic returns, i.e. better attendance, a better chance of continuing on to higher education and better attitudes toward school."

"What a pleasure is is to be associated with City Care's Whiz Kids Program. In a short five years, this church-school partnership has exploded beyond anyone's expectations."

Sam Bowman, Oklahoma City Councilman and Whiz Kids Tutor
